The inspiration for this label design originates from the graphics of a floral element that adorns the wooden pulpit of the Holy Cross Church, a symbol of the country and a central element of the company logo. This graphic characterizes all labels but remains non-invasive compared to the other elements of the labels because it is realized with the Braille technique. The creative challenge was to transfer the corporate values into the new labels without losing the link with the history and tradition of the territory.
The uniqueness of this design lies in its clean, minimal, and innovative approach, setting it apart from other wine labels in Sardinia, Italy. The label is enhanced by the use of Braille in a subtle yet effective way. The floral pattern is based on a graphic elaboration of a pattern from the nearby church of Santa Croce in Usini, which is also the company logo.
For the realization of these labels, a very fine natural paper texture was used, providing a warm and pleasant touch. The labels measure 120mm in width and 86mm in height, printed on an uncoated, matt, wood-free printing paper with a felt-marked textured surface. The printing is done with gold foil for the logo and horizontal line, and Braille embossing ink for the floral sketch.
The project, which started in December 2015 and finished in April 2016 in Olmedo, was a successful attempt to find elements of continuity with the old labels while creating a completely new and minimal design. The church has become an integral part of the company logo, and the name of the wines has taken the position and color of old labels.
This design is a testament to the designer's ability to preserve the link with tradition while introducing a touch of elegance that complements the high quality of the wines. It is a remarkable demonstration of technical expertise and innovation, which has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2017.
